Camp Director: Joe Reilly
Camp Description: Singer-songwriter and mindfulness practitioner Joe Reilly invites elementary school-aged children to get in touch with their creative voices, water seeds of happiness, and express themselves through singing and songwriting in this fun and unique camp. Joe shares methods of calming, listening, and cultivating awareness through simple and accessible mindfulness practices that introduce students to his songwriting process. Creative brainstorming and song development are modeled together in the group so that students can continue to write songs on their own. Students are encouraged to share their songs through performances and an in-camp recording session.
Sensory-Friendly Concert
Join us for a 45-minute interactive concert featuring a solo acoustic set of music by the great Joe Reilly. This free sensory-friendly concert welcomes individuals with neurodiversity and/or intellectual or developmental disabilities with their families and/or caregiver(s). Arrive early to enjoy hands-on activities from 2–3pm.
"Sensory-friendly" events are designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and with other sensory sensitivities. Our culture can be unforgiving if you're unable to conform to the standard concert etiquette of quietly sitting still for extended periods. This excludes individuals who are unable to sit still or who may express emotions such as joy or excitement through vocalization. This sensory-friendly concert aims to remove barriers, allowing everyone to be themselves and enjoy a musical experience in a safe and judgement-free environment.

Celebrate the joy of reading at Reading & Rhythm on the Riverfront, a beloved children’s literacy program now in its 16th year. This engaging series brings stories to life with lively read-alouds from local celebrities, business leaders and community voices who share a passion for inspiring young readers.
Each event features live, interactive entertainment designed for the whole family—combining music, movement and storytelling to create a fun, welcoming atmosphere along the riverfront. Plus, thanks to our partnership with the Detroit Public Library’s Library on Wheels, children can take home free books to build their own personal libraries.
Perfect for families with young children, Reading & Rhythm offers a meaningful way to spark imagination, encourage literacy and enjoy time together outdoors. Free, registration required.

Rhythm of the Earth Festival
Joe Reilly and The Community Gardeners return to the 3rd Rhythm of the Earth Mindful Music Festival, which will be a fundraiser for the Thich Nhat Hanh School of Interbeing.

Joe Reilly returns to Lopez Island for a fun, intergenerational community concert. Joe will share songs from his 2025 release Learn to Love Again, as well as classics from previous albums. Fun for all ages, Joe invites you and your family to sing, dance, laugh, and express yourself with joyful freedom.

MLK Day Circle of Unity
Joe will perform along with Julie Beutel and many amazing student performers, as part of the University of Michigan MLK Day Symposium.

Ralph C Wilson Jr Centennial Park Grand Opening
Joe will perform two children's concerts at 11:30am each day.
Ralph Wilson Park is located at 1801 W. Jefferson, behind the Fort. St. Post Office. The celebration, which will include the Detroit Harvest Fest and Food Truck Rally, will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m both days.

Peace Day Concert
Come celebrate Peace Day at Oakland University with Joe Reilly. The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established by a United Nations resolution in 1981, the International Day of Peace provides a “globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.” The 2025 Global Peace Day Theme is “Act Now for a Peaceful World.”
Joe Reilly is a singer, songwriter, social worker, Dharma teacher, and educator who writes songs from his heart to bring people together and build community across lines of race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, and nationality. Joe will be joined by Lesley-Anne Stone and Mark Stone for this year’s Peace Day celebration.
